Serbia: Protests draw attention to lack of media freedom, corruption, and other issues
The French gilets jaunes protests have made all of Europe talk for weeks. With the number of protesters reaching 130,000 across France at the peak of the demonstrations, the movement has succeeded at winning concessions from French President Emmanuel Macron, including dropping his plan for a fuel tax increase. In another European country, up to 50,000 protesters have also done weekly protests since late last year. However, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić has said that even if five million of the country’s seven million inhabitants took to the streets, he would not give in to their demands.
