Galileo : Broadening Europe’s boundaries
On 25 July, the European Union successfully launched four satellites from French Guiana. That was one of the last steps before the completion of the Galileo program, scheduled for 2020. This system, created to compete with the American GPS system, presently provides positioning and time measuring services to about 400 million users. Its goal is to make Europe independent from the USA in the fields of technology and digital advancement.
