Using reliable sources is no joke.

For a referendum, it is not for me as a non-Maltese to convince the Maltese government to organise referenda on any topic. Please use the Maltese political institutions to promote the organisation of such a referendum, as I presume you are Maltese.

Yours sincerely.
Malta, elections and the EU : an odd story 2013-09-14T17:45:02Z https://www.eurobull.it/Malta-elections-and-the-EU-an-odd-story,05626#comment18451 2013-09-14T17:45:02Z
According to yr statistics only 22% of the Maltese public are contrary to the EU ! From what follows, one can deduct it wasn't meant in a negative way. But you're right, maybe 'special' or 'unique' would have been better.

As to the stance of the Maltese towards the EU, I used 'might' in the conclusion because, indeed, most Maltese support EU membership. As can be deducted from the latest Eurobarometer results (number 77), only 22 percent of the Maltese have a negative image of the EU in general, which could support your opinion. The EU's average is 28 percent.

Anyway, thanks for the comment.
Malta, elections and the EU : an odd story 2013-03-17T14:35:52Z https://www.eurobull.it/Malta-elections-and-the-EU-an-odd-story,05626#comment16460 2013-03-17T14:35:52Z
* Malta can send 6 Members of Parliament and not 5.

And perhaps it's not right to call Malta an odd Member States. Every MS has its own characteristics and we are no different. Our small size, geographical location & dependence on tourism makes us unique. Although yes the country is divided politically, when it comes to EU relations, the majority of Maltese citizens are now pro-EU, especially since our accession has brought more benefits then negatives.

Ex-JEF Malta President
