What we expect
Commitment. We are not looking for people who just want a nice line on their CV! We are looking for people to take on editorial responsibilities, actively contribute to The New Federalist on a weekly basis, and work with other team members to manage collaborative projects.

NEWSLETTER OFFICER
You could be in charge of TNF’s newsletter launch!
Tasks
- Write a short summary of key events in Europe every two weeks (300 words, Politico style!)
- Keep up with TNF content to be able to select our best articles, interviews etc to your summary and draw readers to them
- Responsibility for managing mailing lists, sending out the newsletter and coming up with creative ways of getting people to subscribe
- Coordinating with JEF’s webzines in other languages
Requirements
- A keen interest in current affairs and high attention to detail
- Excellent English and ability to write in an engaging and entertaining manner
SECTION EDITORS
A section editorship allows you to zoom in on an area which interests you and involves contributing your own articles, deciding what you would like covered in your section, proof-reading and publishing articles from contributors.
SECTION EDITOR: EU INSTITUTIONS AND POLICY
Tasks
- Proof-read, edit and publish 3-4 articles a month, either written by yourself or by other contributors
- Put together regular calls for articles
- Recruit new contributors to write for your section
- Contribute to social media, meetings and joint editorial team tasks
Requirements
- Native or near-native English skills: you will be expected to proof-read and edit complex articles
- A solid understanding of what drives EU politics and institutions.
- Enthusiasm! You will be the closest TNF will have to a “Brussels correspondent”.
- Commit around 5 hours per week to editorial tasks
SECTION EDITOR: EUROPE IN THE WORLD
Tasks
- Proof-read, edit and publish 3-4 articles a month, either written by yourself or by other contributors
- Put together regular calls for articles
- Recruit new contributors to write for your section
- Contribute to social media, meetings and joint editorial team tasks
Requirements
- Native or near-native English skills: you will be expected to proof-read and edit complex articles
- A solid understanding of global affairs and keen interest in current worldwide developments
- Commit around 5 hours per week to editorial tasks
SECTION EDITOR: ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT
Tasks
- Proof-read, edit and publish 5 articles a month, either written by yourself or by other contributors
- Put together regular calls for articles
- Recruit new contributors to write for your section
- Contribute to social media, meetings and joint editorial team tasks
- Develop a clear vision and strategy for growing your section
Requirements
- Native or near-native English skills: you will be expected to proof-read and edit complex articles
- Commit around 5 hours per week to editorial tasks
SECTION EDITOR: HISTORY, SOCIETY, CULTURE AND YOUTH
Tasks
- Proof-read, edit and publish 3-4 articles a month, either written by yourself or by other contributors

- Develop a clear vision and strategy for growing your section

- Develop a clear vision and strategy for growing your section
Requirements

SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATORS
Tasks
- Managing TNF’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
- Creating your own more specialised content, for example making graphics using Photoshop, to draw followers’ attention to our content
- Develop a clear social media strategy for TNF and track performance of posts and articles
Requirements
- Be a social media junkie!
- Proficient user of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
- Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign Canva or similar tools a bonus
- Consistent commitment to ensure regular output
